War on Babies: Do Democrats and the Press Condone It?

(From ProLife = ProGod Facebook page)
PPPS (Philadelphia)—Qui tacet consentit - If silence implies consent then are the mainstream media and Democrats, in their response to the Kermit Gosnell trial, condoning a war on babies?

You can read the following and decide.

First, the facts.

Abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell is on trial in Philadelphia charged with seven counts of first degree murder involving botched late-term abortions (post 24 weeks) in which the babies were born alive and then murdered with scissors or by other means. The details, which are coming out each day in testimony, are truly disturbing (Grand Jury Report - caution, very disturbing). Both the late-term abortions performed by Gosnell on mostly poor and minority patients and the alleged murders of live-born babies were illegal in Pennsylvania.

Mainstream media would usually eat up such a sensational trial, one involving serial murders, ghastly details, exploitation of people of color, and a highly controversial issue, such as abortion. The story would normally be front-page news for days or weeks.

But the mainstream media and prominent Democrats remain silent. No major news organization, other than Fox News, has been reporting the story. And those that are beginning to report, appear to be doing so only in response to shaming from conservative bloggers and conversations trending in social media.

Why the press censorhip of this story? And, where are the quotes from Nancy Pelosi, Debbie Wasserman-Shultz, or President Obama about it?

After all, the mainstream media once went wild over a story that Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney used scissors to cut the hair of a classmate as part of a college prank. Now, what do we hear from them about scissors being used to sever the spinal cords of living, breathing babies? Silence.

State Senator Barrack Obama once opposed a bill in Illinois that made infanticide illegal and addressed issues quite similar to those being described in a Philadelphia court room. What do we hear about that in relation to the Gosnell trial? Silence.

At what point do you think President Obama and other Democratic leaders will jump in to decry the horror and propose new legislation? Will it take longer than their interventions on behalf of Travon Martin or the Cambridge Professor, or the Newtown victims?

You decide.

Here are some links to other articles to help you ponder these questions. Note, these are commentary or news stories on blogs, not front page stories or TV news items (we couldn't find those).

Following is an interesting video from a Christian perspective about when and how to expose evil in an issue like the Gosnell trial. We are very thankful for this video, as it confirms many of the prayers we undertook before creating the PPPS blog post. One of those prayers is posted below.

The Gosnell Trial: Exposing Evil and Loving Others

A prayer about the horrible trial of Abortion Dr. Kermit Gosnell in Philadelphia.

Lord, thank you for your love.
Thank you Lord, that you hold your little ones in your presence that they would not feel pain.
Thank you for your grace, that you forgive all of us our sins, even the most evil among us, and including me.
Thank you Lord for revealing the truth about abortion to me and to our nation.
Let me see with your vision Lord, and let me respond always in love.

  1. Yes! they condone it. They just don't like the fact that the red biohazard bags are being opened and everyone who thought abortion was all about sipping ice chips and orange juice and a Planned Parenthood T-shirt are finding out that it is about beheading live babies and filling jars with baby feet. It puts a damper on their cocktail parties.

    1. jeanneiology - Thank you for your comment. Very succinct and to the point. This is certainly not a popular topic at cocktail parties. If I ever get invited to one, I may bring it up just to see the reaction......mmmm.....I wonder if that's why I never get invited to cocktail parties.

Thanks again, comment any time and keep up the good work! God bless.

  2. "State Senator Barrack Obama once opposed a bill in Illinois that made infanticide illegal and addressed issues quite similar to those being described in a Philadelphia court room. "

That's a lie, to put it bluntly. And it's been debunked over and over again since 2008. But you right wingers just keep repeating it over and over again, as if repeating a lie makes it true. (where have I heard that before...oh, yeah..."War Propaganda", in volume 1, chapter 6 of Mein Kampf (1925), by Adolf Hitler)

    1. KaJo - Thanks for your comment. Just wondering, do you spend a lot of time at cocktail parties?....oh never mind.

To your point, quoting from the first source you cited about a comment Rick Santorum made, and under the article subtitle "Born Alive in Illinois":

      -------------------------------
When Obama was a state senator, abortion opponents proposed "born alive" legislation in 2001, 2002 and 2003. The proposals’ intent was to require doctors to provide immediate life-saving care to any infant that survived an intended abortion. The legislation, which included multiple bills, specified that an infant surviving a planned abortion is "born alive" and "shall be fully recognized as a human person and accorded immediate protection under the law."

The bills' supporters said it gave added emphasis to laws already on the books, deterring the death of abortion survivors from neglect. (One of the bills' strongest supporters was a nurse who said she had witnessed infants left to die in dirty utility rooms.) Abortion-rights proponents, on the other hand, said the legislation was a back-door attempt to stop legal abortions.

Illinois already had a law on its books from 1975 that said if a doctor suspected an abortion was scheduled for a viable fetus — meaning able to survive outside of the mother's body — then the child must receive medical care if it survives the abortion. The new laws didn't distinguish between viable and nonviable, meaning that an infant of any age that survived an abortion should receive care.

Obama, along with other Democrats in the Illinois legislature, opposed the "born alive" laws every time they came up.
      ------------------------------

So, the statement you quoted from MY article above, was not a lie, to put it bluntly. I was stating a fact, and posing a question.

My question is still valid: War on Babies: Do Democrats and the press condone it?

Perhaps you don't like it when a subject is addressed in a "war on" context. I was only speaking in a language the left uses all the time to get people's attention....mmmm....actually then, you're Hitler reference was quite apt.

Of course, being a "right winger", I then quickly diverged from "lefty talk" and started using facts.

Speaking of facts, or in your case "lies", I wonder if left wingers are ever guilty of "repeating it over and over again, as if repeating a lie makes it true."

I noted that you wrote a blog called Palengates: the Sarah Palin Watchdog Team.

      Perhaps thee project too much.
