New Reporter to Cover Occupy Wall Street Protests

PPPS (New York) With the Occupy Wall Street protest movement sweeping the country, potentially changing America and the world, the Pundit Pete Press Service has stepped up to provide our readers with in-depth coverage by hiring a new reporter dedicated exclusively to reporting on the movement.  We are proud to introduce our readers to Protester Pete.

Pete, who recently obtained both undergraduate and graduate degrees from  the prestigious Columbia University School of Journalism, has already been reporting on the Occupy Wall Street movement on a freelance basis, and contributed to Practical Pete's October 13 advice column on the subject.

After a stiff bidding war with the New York Times, whose own OWS reporter was recently reassigned, Protester Pete decided to offer his services to PPPS because of our sterling reputation for unbiased reporting. As Pete indicated, "the Press Service editorial policies and coverage are a perfect fit with the broad and well rounded education and the objective reporting techniques I received at Columbia."

While at Columbia, Pete was a reporter for The Columbia Daily Spectator and received numerous awards for his reporting and opinion pieces. Of special note, Protester Pete was the recent recipient of the 2011 Media Matters for America award for Student Journalist Most Likely to Advance the Profession of Journalism for his masters thesis titled Participatory Journalism: Shaping the News While Appearing Unbiased in a Biased World.

Protester Pete will bring to our readers that same unbiased viewpoint from inside the Occupy Wall Street movement. As Pete says, "I can get the types of interviews that most outside reporters cannot. I already know a number of the protesters, including several former classmates and two of my Columbia professors who are involved in the movement on a daily basis. The Occupy leadership has already provided me with my own tent and internet connection, so that I'll be able to post stories directly from the site. I'm looking forward to reporting for the Pundit Pete Press Service!"

And we're looking forward to those reports!

  1. Hey, what's up with your new reporter? I'm pretty sure I saw him stok'n up the crowd with a bullhorn a couple of weeks back. And I think he was one of the protesters who was arrested. Did you like do a background check before you hired him?
Sometimes I have doubts about your "unbiased" reporting!

  4. Anonymous - Pretending to be a protester would be an outrageous violation of journalistic ethics. Besides, I'm not sure that Protester Pete owns a suit and tie.
