Pundit Pete Opines on Libya Consulate Murders

PPPS (Littleton)—After our initial story on September 12, in which we correctly assessed the cause of the deaths of four great Americans at the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, we've chosen to sit back and watch the story (very slowly) unfold in the mainstream press.

Today, the Washington Post, finally came around to our point of view on  the cause, and posted an article outlining the Adminstration responses and statements in this matter. Here's that Washington Post article.

And here is Pundit Pete's response, posted as a comment to the Washington Post article:

Here's what we posted at the Pundit Pete Press Service on the morning of September 12, just after Secretary Clinton gave her official statement about the Libya consulate murders.

"Make no mistake, this was not an angry mob action, as the press is calling it, but a planned attack by Islamic radicals timed to occur on the 11th anniversary of 9/11. The claimed outrage about the Youtube film is just a ruse, perhaps used to inflame the crowd, while the professional terrorists did their deadly work."

OK, we did get one thing wrong. There was no crowd to inflame. Here's the original article. http://punditpete.blogspot.com/2012/09/clinton-spe...

Now, if a satire writer like me, with no particular expertise in Middle East or intelligence matters, other than from watching terrorist attacks unfold in the news for 3 decades, could figure this out based on the very limited information that morning, what the hell was our State Department, White House and mainstream press, all with infinitely greater access to information than I, up to in the hours (and now days) following this event?

I'll hazard another bold assertion, based on my limited experience in these matters.

The White House and State Department were covering their butts to hide their incompitency AND to keep this story from impacting the President's re-election chances (which at this point is what all policies, foreign and domestic are really about). AND the mainstream press has for the most part, been willing accomplisses.

This whole thing is shameful - that our government would so blatantly lie to us about the death of four diplomats.
