New Voices on the Issues - Gun Control

PPPS (Littleton)—In the interest of fully exploring the issues of the day and exposing our readers to different points of view, PPPS is starting a new series of topic articles we call New Voices on the Issues.

Our first topic is Gun Control and we will add voices to the topic as we find them.

Our first is from this young man named Mr. Colion Noir who posts videos on gun issues. This one is most excellent.

How to Stop Mass Shootings

You can follow Colion on Facebook and Twitter, as well as his YouTube channel.

*************************************************************

Another New Voice on the Gun Control Issue is from a fellow blogger, Citizen Caryn, who writes the Western Bluebird blog. We think Western Bluebird does a fine job of explaining the issue of our 2nd Amendment rights under the Constitution. We encourage you to read it.

How to Understand Your Rights: Amendment II

Update April 10, 2013

John Lott, Fox News

Once in a while, one of the other major news organizations (besides PPPS) gets something right or publishes an opinion which challenges the status quo. Since that it is so rare, it can legitimately be considered as a new voice.

In this case, that new voice belongs to John Lott, who writes for Fox News and has offered this amazing fact check of the President's promotion of new gun laws and background checks. We guarantee you will learn something you did not know before.

Fact vs. fiction on background checks and gun control

Update April 10, 2013

Mark Levin

Mark Levin is a popular radio host, constitutional scholar and author. And although he can hardly be considered a new voice in the gun control debate or on many other issues, we felt that in the instance, Mark is sounding an alarm so compelling, that it must be heard.

An Up or Down Vote on the 2nd Amendment is Unconstitutional

In Honor of a True Leader of Character - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

PPPS (Littleton)—Today we celebrate the birthday of an American leader of outstanding character, courage and conviction, and a man of faith - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

We encourage our readers to watch the video of Dr. King's I Have A Dream speech delivered on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in 1963.

And we pray that all of our leaders and citizens will take heart from Dr. King's Dream, thank God for the progress we have made as a country, and look upon our fellow citizens as Dr. King would have us do.

Confirmed: Social Security Could Present the Next Fiscal Crisis

BREAKING NEWS! —PPPS (Washington, DC)

Treasury Secretary Geithner
For that past few days, rumors have been circulating around the Capitol Beltway that another fiscal crisis may be looming, possibly involving the Social Security program.

PPPS, through an exclusive unnamed source, has obtained a copy of a confidential email from Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner to House Budget Committee Chair, Rep. Paul Ryan which appears to confirm the worst of the rumors. Here is a copy of the email:

Sent:        Wed 1/9/2013 8:42 AM
From:       tim.geithner@treasury.gov
To:            paul.ryan@house.gov
Subject:   CONFIDENTIAL: Social Security Lock Box

Rep. Ryan,

Mr. Chairman, it is with some regret that, in compliance with your request that the Department of the Treasury perform an audit of the contents of the Social Security Lock Box, I must inform your Committee that several Platinum coins placed in the box by an earlier administration have apparently been misplaced.
While I understand that this revelation could create concern regarding the present and future viability of the Social Security Program, rest assured that we will perform a full internal investigation into the matter.
In the meantime, I am urging the President to exercise his Executive Prerogative and direct the U.S. Mint to immediately coin Platinum replacements, in addition to the $1 trillion Platinum Coin already on order to fund the government for the next two months.

Also, regarding your request that I testify before the Committee next week, it is with extreme disappointment that I must inform you that I am experiencing mild flu symptoms (with possible oath-itis complications). It would simply be unconscionable for me to appear before the Committee at this time and put yourself, and fellow committee members and staff at risk.

I will make every effort to reschedule at a later date, perhaps some time after the end of flu season.

Yours truly,
Timothy Geithner, Secretary

PPPS was unable to obtain any official comment from the Treasury Department, the White House or the Committee Chairman.

However, one Democratic member of the Budget Committee did offer this off-the-record comment:
"I'm absolutely astounded. Why, if true, this means, basically, the Lock Box is just filled with a bunch of IOU's. I just hope Chairman Ryan doesn't block efforts to determine which Bush Administration official is responsible."

BREAKING NEWS: White House and Congress Issue Joint Resolution

PPPS (Washington)—BREAKING NEWS!

Fresh off of the wildly successful Fiscal Cliff negotiations and legislation to prevent middle class tax hikes, PPPS has learned of another breaking news story out of our nation's captitol.

In a remarkable show of bipartisanship, the White House and Congress today issued a joint New Year's Resolution for 2013:

It is hereby resolved for 2013 to
Create Bigger Can, More Kicks

2012 - The Top Stories & Opinions from the Pundit Pete Press Service

PPPS (Littleton)— First, we extend a hearty HAPPY NEW YEAR to our loyal readers.

As we close out 2012, we take this opportunity to review some the top stories from 2012 as determined by our readers. (Once again, we thank you for helping make the Pundit Pete Press Service one of the most sought-after news sources on the web today.)

The Overall top News Story in 2012, by a wide margin in terms of page views, was this September 29th post:
Obama Up by 14 in Key States As New PPPS Poll Captures Previously Unsampled Demographic

In addition to the cutting-edge technology and polling science behind this popular post, it also included a dead-on prediction about the presidential election. It is with some pride that we note that the Pundit Pete Press Service was the first major news organization to call the election for President Obama - a full 37 days ahead of election day!

The Second-most Widely Read News Story, also involving the election, was this inside look at the Obama Campaign by our own embedded reporter, Protester Pete:
Inside the Obama Campaign Slogan Selection Process

Putin Pouts Over PPPS Post
The campaign slogan story also led to this International Incident, which although not as history-altering as some of the misinformation which the Mainstream Media pumps out on a daily basis, this Most Influential International Story, is certainly one of which we at PPPS are quite proud.
PPPS Story Causes International Rift - Putin Pulls Out of G-8

Our Most Popular Opinion Piece and 2nd Most Viewed Post overall was a rare contribution by our leader, Pundit Pete.
The President Lied, Humor Died - Serious Commentary From Pundit Pete
Although not funny, it seems to have hit a chord with many of our readers and generated complaints from others. As a result of the complaints about this post and several others, our Ombudsman, Principled Pete, instituted a Serious Content warning to be placed with stories of this kind.

Our First Post to Be Picked Up by Drudge was this February scoop about the President's promise to halve the deficit by the end of his first term.
"Cut Deficit in Half" Still Goal for New White House Budget
This post was also linked and used by Philip Klein of the Washington Examiner. Remarkably, given the exposure, the White House web site still carried the promise through official start of the President's campaign in May.

Our Biggest Scoop Not Acknowledged or Credited, and still completely ignored to this day, involved the Benghazi attack on September 11th, and our report on the morning of September 12th, which included this statement (kudos to our Middle East correspondent, Palestinian Pete):
"Make no mistake, this was not an angry mob action, as the press is calling it, but a planned attack by Islamic radicals timed to occur on the 11th anniversary of 9/11. The claimed outrage about the Youtube film is just a ruse, perhaps used to inflame the crowd, while the professional terrorists did their deadly work."
That remarkable conclusion preceded any other from a major news organization, and to this day, there are still many in the Mainstream Press who have failed to report the truth about Benghazi. That statement can be found in this September 12 post;
Clinton Speech on Libya Murders Omits the Word "Freedom"
followed by this editorial on September 27th;

Our Most Popular JPEG Image Downloads and 3rd Most Viewed Post involved this innocent article about some yard signs posted in front of the PPPS offices.

A New Year's Resolution Note from Patriot Pete

PPPS (Littlteton)—We thought we would share this early morning note and attached photograph, in the form of an apparent New Year's resolution, which was delivered by a mysterious man on horseback who presented himself following a polite but forceful knock upon our door:

Dear Editor:

It is with profound Sorrow and Concern for the fate of our Great Republic that I must remind you of the painful letter I sent you in 2011, and of how little Progress has been made since that time, and that Liars and Thieves still occupy the White House and roam the halls of Congress in Washington, DC.

9/12 Rally in 2010 (click to enlarge)
Therefore,  upon my Oath to uphold our great Constitution and to Defend our Republic, I hereby Resolve and make this Pledge, that henceforth, for the duration of 2013  and beyond, as necessary, and within the bounds and responsibilities extended to all Citizens from God through the Declaration of Independence and Constitution, and in accordance with all applicable and legitimate laws and rules of a Peaceful Society, that this shall be my Solemn Moto and Vow:

RESIST WE MUCH!

It would please me greatly, if on my behalf, you would be so kind as to extend to the Chief Occupier and President, Barack Obama, currently residing at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, and to his Chief Agitator and Race Hustler, The Dishonorable Al Sharpton, address unknown, this letter, and my heartfelt acknowledgement and appreciation for the Inspiration they provided for said Solemn Moto and Vow.

Penned this early morning, on the day of our Lord, the 1st of January, 2013.

Patriot Pete
Peetz, Colorado

Editor's Notes: Upon receipt of this letter from Patriot Pete, we did a little research to place it into context for our readers.

First of all, Patriot Pete did indeed send us a "Painful Letter" in 2011, which we published on July 23 of that year. Pete's message remains surprisingly applicable to the current "Fiscal Cliff" crisis our country is undergoing now. Therefore we think our readers would benefit from reading Pete's earlier letter again.
A Painful Letter from Patriot Pete — July 23, 2011

We also believe we may have found the context for Patriot Pete's puzzling pronouncement and apparent New Year's resolution: RESIST WE MUCH!

One source appears to be the President's recent interview with David Gregory in which he stated "Absolutely, there will be resistance" to his proposals to limit 2nd Amendment rights. Another source could be the President's December 14th interview in which he labeled Republicans as "resistant".

As for the curious message "Resist We Much", we believe we may have found a remarkably similar statement made by the Reverand Al Sharpton.

UN Ambassador Rice Withdraws from Secretary of State Consideration

PPPS (Washington, DC)—In a surprising turn of events in the search to replace outgoing Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, UN Ambassador Susan Rice formally withdrew her name from consideration for the post.

Ambassador Rice provided an explanation yesterday in the Opinion section of the Washington Post. Her decision has sent shock waves through our news room and among some of our readers.

Following are some of the responses we have received.

PPPS Hires Social Media Director

PPPS (Littleton)—With the ever-increasing importance of social media, the Pundit Pete Press Service is pleased to announce the creation of a new Director of Social Media position, and the hiring of  a seasoned veteran of the virtual world, #Pound-Sign Pete.

#Pound-Sign Pete (PPPS photo)
#Pound-Sign Pete brings with him vast experience and knowledge of social media, and has been a pioneer in the "hashtag revolution." Pete is the author of the best-selling e-book How to Friend Like A Friend and created the successful consulting firm  #Hashtags-R-Us#.

Pete was recently invited to the White House and is often credited with introducing the President to social media. Rumors are circulating that Pete may be responsible for the wildly popular #My2K Twitter campaign.

Although Pete has tweeted and friended under a number of alias', which we are not at liberty to reveal, suffice to say that he has clogged up many a laptop screen, FB account, and smart phone over the years. Known among insiders as the "Tweeter-In-Chief", Pete has already been blocked by more people than most social-media addicts could ever hope to claim on their Followers list.

#Pound-Sign Pete will be in charge of monitoring trends taking place in the virtual world and for the maintenance of our Twitter and Facebook accounts.

We are honored to welcome #Pound-Sign Pete on board!

On Benghazi: The Lies Are Not Acceptable. Period.

PPPS (Littleton)—In lieu of our own editorial comment on the sordid Benghazi, Libya murders and the cover up by the Obama Administration, we decided to share a comment from one of our readers and frequent contributors, Citizen Pete.

Pete shared with us this comment he posted on the web site of The Telegraph, a UK newspaper, regarding this article by Nile Gardner:  The White House’s Benghazi bungling is proving a disaster

Pete's comments and link to a previous PPPS article about the Bridge to Nowhere Tea Party, sum things up fairly succinctly,as does Pete's photo:

Look, they (Clinton, Rice, Carney, Obama) lied to the American people about the Benghazi murders for political reasons and that is not acceptable. Period.
Any observing/thinking American knows it. Those who say otherwise are:
1) part of the Administration or Democratic party;
2) part of the mainstream media (but I repeat myself);
3) uninformed or incapable of simple, practical reasoning;
4) willfully in denial; or
5) have some other agenda for which their ends are met by denying the truth.
They lied from the very beginning of this event and they are lying about it now.
The purpose was/is to cover up their incompetence in security, in policy, in reaction, and even in the cover up, and, most importantly, to defuse, delay and distract to prevent this issue from impacting the President's reelection. They succeeded in that goal.
It is up to the citizens of our country to tell them that their actions are unacceptable. In Colorado we posted this message prior to the election and will again after the election. http://punditpete.blogspot.com...

Could Gaza Cease-Fire Lead to Two-State Solution?

PPPS (Cairo)—Could there finally be some encouraging news emerging out of the Middle East?

Based upon exclusive interviews with Arab diplomats by our own Middle East correspondent, Palestinian Pete, there appears to be a consensus forming that the recent cease-fire agreement between Israel and Hamas ending Israel's aggressive actions in Gaza could lead to a final two-state solution.

Thanks to the courageous efforts by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi to broker the deal, there is now a possibility for a permanent peace agreement.

Palestinian Pete has learned that the Clinton/Morsi talks went well beyond the topic of a temporary cease-fire, and included the drawing up of permanent two-state boundaries.

Two-State Solution Proposed by Secretary Clinton

Through unnamed contacts closely involved in the negotiations Palestinian Pete was able to obtain near-final maps presented by negotiators on each side.

Two-State Solution Proposed by President Morsi

It is clear from an examination of the maps, that with only some minor boundary adjustments, a two-state solution is clearly possible.

Some Thanksgiving Day Observations

PPPS (Littleton)—We thought we would share just a few Thanksgiving Day observations tweeted by our staff yesterday.

On Thanksgiving Holiday:

Learned that President Lincoln designated Thanksgiving as a national holiday in the midst of personal grief and a civil war. If he found things to be thankful for, we certainly can too. Thank you Lord for your many blessings.
Michael Medved's late evening radio show reading about the history of the Pilgrims and the first Thanksgiving was great. Learned a lot.

On Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade:

Enjoyed Parade. Liked Aflac Duck. Not sure about NBC's last-minute designation of UN Ambassador Susan Rice as Grand Marshall.
Really liked marching bands. Learned a lot about our culture. But having a Mr. and Mr. Claus at the end was a bit over the top.

On Football:

Tebow! Tebow! Tebow!
Fumbles are Fun. So are Missed Field Goals.

On Family:

We love it when our kids call. Sometimes wish they weren't so far away.
Met some Conservatives from Wisconsin. It was a wonderful thing. Learned about a guy named Paul Ryan, cold weather and cheese.
Thanks Debbie and Kevin, the Estes Park Crew, and the Fort Collins Contingent. We greatly enjoyed your company. God bless you all.

Obama Wins - As Predicted

PPPS (Littleton)—As projected by the Pundit Pete Press Service on September 29 (PPPS was the first major news organization to call the election), President Obama won reelection last night. Our Final Exit polling indicates that he won heavily among Deceased Voters, which ultimately put him over the top.

We certainly don't want to over emphasize the Dead Vote, since enough breathing Americans fought back and made the election close. But there is a certain pall hanging over America today. So much so that two of our loyal readers and sometimes contributors, Patriot Pete and Citizen Pete, both tweeted this message this morning:

It's mourning in America.

Keep your chins up and keep fighting. As Patriot Pete once wrote:

"They have awakened us. We will not give up and we will not go away.  We will stand firm until their power has passed."

Denver News Anchor Asks President Tough Questions on Benghazi, Civility and Solar

PPPS (Denver)—BREAKING NEWS!

A JOURNALIST DOES HIS JOB!
In this day that is itself news and our hats are off to 9News Denver Co-Anchor Kyle Clark.

Here is the interview with President Obama to be aired this evening on 9News Denver.

In this interview, the questions are most important and we've paraphrased them below. The President as usual, rarely provides a satisfactory answer, but he is clearly unnerved by the questions. Mr. Clark was allotted only five minutes, but he managed to stretch the interview out to 7 1/2 minutes. Good job.

Q: Were the Americans under attack at the Consulate in Benghazi, Libya denied requests for help during that attack, and is it fair to tell Americans that what happened is under investigation and we'll all find out after the election?

A: Well..look....the election has nothing to do with four brave Americans getting killed and us finding out exactly what happened.......

Q: Were they denied help during the attack?

A: We are...we are finding out exactly what happened, as I've said over the last...ah...couple of months since this happened...that....ah....the minute I ...ah...find out what was going on I gave three very clear directives.......(same old, same old....but the President is clearly unnerved that Clark repeated that question)

Check back for updates.

A Poem for the Press - from Poet Pete

PPPS (Littleton)—In response to new revelations of press misconduct and administration lying related to the Libya Consulate Terrorist Attack, our poet-in-residence, Poet Pete, penned this poem.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?
by Poet Pete

To the Press in this country.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?

Don’t you care about your country?
Does the color of one man’s skin
    override everything?
Do you suffer from so much guilt
    that content of character
       has no meaning?

Is the fantasy of the left
    the only prism
       through which
          you can view the world?

How many dead Americans in Libya,
    or in America,
       or elsewhere,
    will it take
       to wake
          you
             up?

Or, if you believe
    that America is so bad,
    then how many
    dead Mexicans,
       or brutalized women
           in Muslim countries,
    or repressed
       and murdered
          religious minorities,
    or faux demonstrations
       about videos
           and cartoons?

How many failed spring uprisings
    which lead to
       new forms of tyranny
           will be required
              to focus
                 your
                    attention?

What does it take
    to finally awaken you?

What would it take
    to make you
        DO
            YOUR
                JOBS?

Romney/Ryan Rally at Red Rocks - A Photo Essay

Note: this photo was posted on The Kitchen Cabinet 2012 Facebook
PPPS (Morrison, CO)—Fresh off of the Debate on Monday night, Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney and Vice Presidential Candidate Paul Ryan came to the Red Rocks Amphitheater near Morrison, Colorado last evening. PPPS was there.

The Red Rocks Amphitheater officially seats about 9,500, but with people sitting along the edges, the crowd was well over 10,000. Up to a few thousand people were turned away once the venue filled.

The Romney Rally was in a perfect setting, the magical Red Rocks Park, located at the base of the foothills west of Denver and just above the Town of Morrison.

The setting, Red Rocks Park (PPPS photo, 2012)
It was a warm sunny autumn day, which led into a very comfortable warm evening. To our surprise, when PPPS arrived at the event we immediately ran into Citizen Pete and Citizen Caryn, longtime PPPS readers and members of the infamous Bridge to Nowhere Tea Party.

As we were discussing what a beautiful setting this was, Pete proudly announced, "Oh we know, we can see Red Rocks from our front porch."

One hour before the start (click to enlarge) Citizen Pete photo 2012
An hour before the event started, the amphitheater was already about 1/2 full and cars were beginning to back up onto Highway C-470.

The stage with singer Rodney Atkins (click to enlarge) PPPS, 2012
Close-up of the turf. (Bridge to Nowhere Tea Party Photo)
Our inside sources indicate that the Transition Team for Presumptive President-Elect Mitt Romney may already be seeking bipartisan solutions to some of our nation's most difficult challenges, but we have yet to confirm the rumor that they hired Senior Obama Campaign Adviser David Axelrod to install Astroturf on the stage for the Red Rocks event.

Other sources tell us that the turf was real and installed by a local grassroots Tea Party organization.

A smiling Citizen Caryn really enjoyed the event (PPPS photo)
One of the celebrities spotted at the Rally was Citizen Caryn, the ideas person behind many of the Bridge to Nowhere Tea Party activities and writer of the respected Western Bluebird blog.

The crowd arranged themselves to form a giant C for the Colorado flag.

Paul Ryan about to speak. PPPS Photo, 2012 (click to enlarge)

As Paul Ryan, and later, Mitt Romney came on stage, the slightly partisan crowd went wild. They were introduced by New Mexico Governor Susan Martinez.

A great time was had by all.

Based upon the turnout and enthusiasm on display at the Red Rocks Rally, we would not be at all surprised to see Colorado go big for Romney in the upcoming election.

Practical Pete Helps With An Election Question

PPPS (Litltleton)—During election time we are often inundated with a lot of questions from readers about the election process and important voting issues. So we've asked our Advice Columnist, Practical Pete to respond.

ASK Pete:   Advice for some of life's most puzzling dilemmas.

Dear Practical Pete:

We had a big wind blow through here the other night.
Besides the section of fence that blew down, we had a whole bunch of our neighbors' political signs blow into our yard.

Usually, every election year, when it's time to vote, I just look out the window and mark my ballot based on the signs my wife posts in the front yard.

But this year, I'm really confused.

What should I do?  - Puzzled Pete, Chinook, MT

#######################################################

Dear Puzzled Pete:

That's really a pretty puzzling situation you're in there Pete, trying to figure out how to vote. My advice is this:

First go get your wife's ballot. She probably won't need it. A lot of women aren't voting in the election this year - casualties in the War On Women, I guess.

Next, just start pick'n up political signs in your front yard and mark your ballot and then your wife's ballot, one-at-a -time, according to what each sign says.

If, when you're done filling out the ballots, you've still got some signs left over, why you can go down to the county clerk's office and get some more ballots. Just use the names of some Dearly Departed Kinfolk (may they rest in peace) to get as many ballots as you think you need.

That should do the trick, and no more confusion. Then dump all the signs in a neighbor's yard and refer them to my column.

Happy to help. — Practical Pete
